Chicopee School Committee approves FY27 improvement plans for all eight schools, $2.1 million in warrants. The committee voted 12-0 to adopt 2026-2027 school improvement plans, pulling the item out of order to honor building principals, with Superintendent Dr. Ware thanking staff for "a heavy lift." Members approved two warrants totaling $2,136,231.08, including $1,139,413 to Amplify Education for a new K-5 math curriculum, passing 11-1 with Jay Dowd abstaining.
Susan Satello-Lopes flagged a $19,490 flight simulator and a $3,585 patio tent among the line items. The committee honored three retiring staff with a combined 81 years of service and voted to enter executive session on Chicopee Education Association contract strategy. One member, referred to only as Dave, warned the new plans add pressure to teachers, asking, "Wonder why teachers are leaving?"
