Chicopee City Council Approves $42,000 in Police and HR Special-Account Funds

CHICOPEE — January 7, 2025 — Chicopee City Council approves federal grant, $42,000 in special-account funds, and a new municipal appointee at its January 7 meeting. The council voted to accept the FY 2024 Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant under Mayor's Order 1. Mayor's Order 2 directed $27,000 into a police special account for building renovations, and Mayor's Order 3 authorized $15,000 to a human resources special account for police and fire indemnification costs. Under Motion 4, the council appointed Monica Torres as the city's designated individual responsible for soliciting private contributions for municipality-sponsored events.
