Select Board · Meeting of October 20, 2026

CHICOPEE — The Chicopee City Council approved a $1 million federal grant and a $5.86 million bond for the first phase of a Zott Memorial Park overhaul. City Planner Lee Pouliot said the Land and Water Conservation Fund award is the maximum the program gives any project and will fund a splash pad, restrooms and a rebuilt park entrance. The council also approved roughly $1.16 million in retroactive pay under a settled UFCW Local 1459 contract and $1.2 million to replace about 6,500 water meters.

During public comment, resident Lori Tisdell said she found "no record of a city council vote" authorizing license-plate reader cameras tied to the city's $730,000 real-time crime center. A motion to study a data-center moratorium failed 11-2, despite being announced from the chair as passing.
