Retirement Board approves four superannuation retirements, denies disability claim

Chicopee Retirement Board approves superannuation retirements for four officers in spring 2026. Timothy Foley (Police Patrolman), Natividad Gayle (School Paraprofessional), Candido Lopes (School Custodian), and Jan Francis Wegrzynek (Police Lieutenant) were unanimously approved to retire with between 10 and 33 years of service. The board denied an accidental disability claim under heart presumption for Police Officer Christopher Malooly but approved his ordinary disability request, sending it to PERAC.
The board admitted 12 new members from Electric Light and School Departments, authorized the Director and Assistant Executive Director to attend the MACRS Conference in Springfield May 31-June 3, and implemented a HIPAA authorization requirement for police, fire, and new members.
