Planning Board rejects wine license in contested vote

Planning Board · Meeting of May 7, 2026

Chicopee Planning Board votes 3-2 against wine license, citing density and proximity concerns. The board rejected a wine and malt liquor license for S&V Mart at 659 Grattan Street over concerns about proximity to schools, a church, funeral home, and other businesses, as well as overall density and traffic. In related action, the board unanimously approved two zone changes: one to permit residential conversion of 11,257 square feet at 799 Front Street, and another to add lots to a mobile home park at 725, 745, and 0 Memorial Drive.

The board tabled preliminary site plans from Bridgetown, LLC. and Nova Home Improvements to June 4 for additional environmental and planning review.
