Chicopee Planning Board recommends zone change for six-unit condex development. The board voted 5 to 1 to recommend approval of a zone change from Residential A to Residential B for a 39,872-square-foot property on James Street and Memorial Drive, where developer David Labrie of DCL General Construction proposes to build three condex buildings with owner-occupied units. The Department of Public Works director supported the proposal, calling Labrie a reputable developer with no traffic concerns and noting it would be unfair to require him to wait until Memorial Drive construction completes in 2029.

Residents raised concerns about traffic, speeding, privacy, and parking. The board also approved definitive site plans for a contractor unit building at 672 Fuller Road and three business service buildings on East Main Street, plus four property line adjustments.
