License Commission suspends J & W Banquet Hall over licensing violations

License Commission · Meeting of March 19, 2026

Chicopee License Commission suspends banquet hall for operating without licenses. J & W Banquet Hall's multiple licenses face a five-day suspension held in abeyance for one year after the Commission found the facility operated without a valid Certificate of Inspection and served alcohol without proper licensing. Tenant Richard Stewart admitted hosting events in February and March while both the Certificate of Inspection (expired February 28, 2025) and required Common Victualer and General On-Premise Alcohol licenses were missing.

The Commission sustained two of three alleged violations; real estate tax arrears have since been paid. Mr. Stewart must obtain a valid Certificate of Inspection within 14 days before any events may resume.
