Council approves $92,555 payout for retiring auditor

City Council · Meeting of February 3, 2026

Chicopee council approves $92,555 for retiring auditor after 40 years. The City Council authorized approximately $167,918 in expenditures from Free Cash reserves, including the retirement payout for Auditor Sharyn Riley, along with $50,000 for emergency golf course watering and $25,150 in public library donations. A controversial towing and storage special permit application was continued to February 25 on a divided vote: 10 yes, 1 no (Ward 2 Councilor Shane D.

Brooks), and 2 abstaining. Brooks objected, citing the applicant's six-to-eight-month history of operating without required permits despite city cease-and-desist orders.
