Conservation Commission tables bridge NOI hearing to July 1
Conservation Commission · Meeting of June 17, 2026
CHICOPEE — Conservation Commission tables Cooley Brook bridge hearing. The panel postponed a public hearing on replacing three multi-use bridges at Chicopee Memorial State Park, 570 Burnett Rd., after Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection comments arrived moments before the June 17 session. Applicant Alexandra Enchandi of the Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation presented plans for stream bank stabilization, native vegetation restoration, and closure of unauthorized trails across the park.
The project, anticipated to begin in 2027, requires a five-year Order of Conditions due to funding constraints. Most construction will proceed by hand with no equipment crossing Cooley Brook. The Commission voted 4-0 to resume the hearing July 1, 2026.
