Chicopee Conservation Commission clears shade pavilion project at state park. The commission voted unanimously to issue a Positive 5 and Negative 3 determination for the Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation's Project Shade at Chicopee Memorial State Park, 570 Burnett Rd. The statewide initiative includes seating structures and native plantings within a wetland buffer zone, with stormwater directed to pervious areas.
Construction is expected to begin in Fall 2026. The commission also unanimously approved a Certificate of Compliance to close an uncompleted 2018 Order of Conditions at 480 and 510 Burnett Rd.
