City Council unanimously approves $1.35M firefighter contract with wage hikes through 2028

Chicopee City Council unanimously approves $1.35M firefighter contract through 2028. The agreement with Local 1710 includes retroactive wage increases dating to July 2024, plus future raises totaling 3.0 percent on two occasions and two one-dollar-per-hour increases, along with a new education incentive program offering up to 12.5 percent salary stipends for advanced degrees effective July 2026. The council separately accepted a $450,000 Commonwealth MASSWORKS Grant for early planning of infrastructure improvements supporting a $300 million redevelopment of the former Uniroyal property in Chicopee Falls, and appropriated an additional $500,000 from reserves for those planning services.
