Chicopee approves appointment of firefighter Colon to ambulance board. The Human Resources & Communication Committee unanimously approved the mayoral appointment of Jorge Colon, a 32-year veteran of the Springfield Fire Department, to serve on the Ambulance Commission, effective February 3, 2026 and expiring February 1, 2029. Councilor Joseph Pasternak III commended Colon's qualifications, citing a long personal relationship, while Councilor Mary Beth Pniak-Costello thanked him for his community service commitment.
All four members present voted in favor, with Councilor Joel McAuliffe absent.
