City Council approves salary increases across eight municipal departments

Chicopee City Council raises municipal salaries across eight departments. The council unanimously or near-unanimously enacted salary ordinances for employees in the Mayor's office, Auditing, Treasurer, City Council, Planning, and Law (two ordinances) and Human Resources, with new compensation effective July 1, 2025. City Solicitor salary set at $75,993.90 and Senior Accountant at $86,150.88.
In separate business, the council voted 10-3 to support State Auditor Diana DiZoglio's audit of the Massachusetts State Legislature, with Councilors Avery, Arriaga, and Brooks opposing. The council unanimously appointed Wilbert Shuback to the Westover Metropolitan Development Corporation and appropriated $275,000 for wastewater sludge disposal.
