Chicopee City Council votes to implement quarterly property tax billing in fiscal year 2028, shifting from biannual payments to four payments per year. The council unanimously appointed Bianca Janeczek as Chief Human Resources Officer. The vote on the quarterly billing system passed 10-yes to 1-abstain, with President Frank Laflamme abstaining due to his involvement with the Quarterly Billing Task Force.
Assessor McCarthy noted that average property tax bills have increased from $2,900 in 2015 to $4,500 currently, and quarterly payments will help residents manage cash flow more evenly.
