Chicopee Zoning Committee defers two major applications to February 25 after unanimous votes to continue hearings. Chair George Balakier and the full committee postponed a zone-change application from Duy Nguyen for a proposed restaurant at 749 James Street and a special permit from Cruise Control Transportation for a towing and storage business at 78 West Street. The towing application prompted strong public opposition, with four neighbors citing alleged cease-and-desist violations, facility inadequacy, and safety concerns.
Councilors Samuel Shumsky and Joel McAuliffe requested the Law Department brief the committee on enforcement history at the West Street property.
